WOOLEN carpets

Our rugs are created with care and dedication, from natural high-quality materials, taking the client’s wishes into account.
Regular maintenance ensures a long lifespan, quality, and character for a wool rug.

Here you will find our observations and recommendations for the dignified use and care of wool rugs:

  • Our hand- and machine-woven wool rugs made using tufting technology are suitable for use in homes and in public indoor spaces with lighter traffic.
  • Rugs in the POHL, MOSS and WOODY collections are made from natural wool material.
    We use the most highly valued New Zealand wool in the rug world. As a result of several factors acting together, it has a longer and stronger fiber than ordinary wool; therefore, yarn and rugs made from New Zealand wool are high-quality, durable, and shed significantly less lint.
  • Wool naturally has dirt-repellent properties, so wool stays clean longer and wool rugs are easy to maintain on a daily basis.
  • Wool is a strong, durable, and dimensionally stable material. Therefore, wool rugs made from high-quality material are very long-lasting.
  • Wool is also a naturally fire-resistant material, which is why our rugs are also suitable for public spaces.
    Our wool rugs have a fire-resistance certificate (classification Cfl-s1).
  • In addition, rugs act as sound absorbers both on the floor and on the wall.
  • NB! A NEW WOOL RUG releases loose wool fibers. This behavior is characteristic of all wool rugs, but it is most noticeable on rugs with a dense and smooth velour-like surface. The release of loose wool fibers is temporary and disappears in the course of use, once all loose fibers have risen to the surface.
    The quality of the rug does not change due to the release of loose fibers. We recommend vacuuming the rug more frequently during the first few months to remove the bothersome loose fibers.
  • Also in the future, clean the rug regularly with a vacuum cleaner – this effectively and gently removes dirt and loose textile fibers. Use the smooth, brushless nozzle of the vacuum cleaner.
  • Accumulation of dirt between the yarns has a damaging effect on the rug. The rug is particularly affected by sand and other hard dirt that accumulates between the yarns – during mechanical friction between the yarn and the hard dirt particles, the rug is damaged.
  • Always place the rug on a dry floor. A newly finished floor must also be completely dry before you place a rug on it.
    Moisture trapped under the rug can damage both the floor and the rug.
  • The surface of a new wool rug can be treated with a dirt-repellent agent suitable for rugs or fabrics. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using the product.
  • We recommend preventing the rug from being exposed to major dirt and moisture through careful choice of where it is used.
  • NB! A NEW RUG has a new-rug smell! The smell comes from the water-based latex adhesive used to fix the backing and yarns of a rug made using tufting technology,
    which is harmless to health and suitable for indoor environments.
    The smell is temporary; it will disappear. To speed this up, air out the rug and the rooms if necessary. Avoid exposing the rug to strong direct sunlight in the process.
  • To store a rug made using tufting technology, roll it tightly. Avoid creases. Place the rug horizontally. Do not store heavy objects on the rug.

If stains get on the rug, act immediately – the later you act, the harder it is to remove the stain completely!

  • For dry stains, gently scrape them off the rug with a spoon or knife. Make cleaning movements from the edge of the stain toward the center.
    Avoid excessive rubbing. Then remove the remaining residue with a vacuum cleaner.
  • Remove liquid stains by blotting (absorbing) with kitchen paper or a clean cloth. Avoid excessive rubbing. After removing the stain, dry the rug immediately.
  • If necessary, use carpet-cleaning foam to remove the stain completely. First test it on a less visible area of the rug. Make sure that the cleaning agent
    is thoroughly blotted out with water. Dry the rug thoroughly. You can also use a hair dryer or a fan for this, avoiding excessive direct heat on the rug surface.

  • If stains remain visible despite quick action, use the following recommendations according to the cause of the stain:
    - ALCOHOL – wash the rug with a shampoo solution, then blot with white spirit;
    - BEER – blot with a lukewarm 3% white spirit solution;
